Visit Canton of Wiltz

The Canton of Wiltz is a canton located in the north of Luxembourg. It covers an area of 492 km2 and has a population of over 25,000 people. The main town in the canton is Wiltz, which is situated on the banks of the River Sure.

Wiltz offers visitors plenty to explore, including two tourist attractions that are popular with visitors: Chateau de Wiltz and Echternach Abbey. The Chateau de Wiltz dates back to the 16th century and its Renaissance-style architecture remains intact today; it houses an art gallery and a restaurant where you can sample local cuisine. Echternach Abbey is a Benedictine monastery founded in 698 AD by stained glass windows, frescoes and sculptures - making it one of Luxembourg's oldest surviving buildings.

As well as its tourist attractions, Wiltz has some interesting historical facts associated with it. For example, during World War II, American forces used nearby Clervaux Castle as their headquarters before liberating Luxembourg from Nazi occupation in December 1944 - making it an important part of modern history for Luxembourgers.
