Blantyre is the commercial capital of Malawi, a landlocked country in Southern Africa. Located in the southeastern region of the country, Blantyre is Malawi's largest city with a population of over 500,000 people. The city was named after David Livingstone's birthplace in Scotland and was established as a trading post by Europeans in 1876.

For tourists visiting Blantyre, there is much to explore. Visitors can visit Mandala House which serves as an art gallery and history museum; Mangochi Lake which has beautiful beaches and fishing villages; or the Chichiri Shopping Mall for an array of shops and restaurants. There are also several national parks located near Blantyre where visitors can observe wildlife in its natural habitat.

An interesting historical fact about Blantyre is that it used to be called "the Manchester of Central Africa" back when it was colonized by British settlers because of its bustling industrial activity during this period.
