Visit Chiradzulu


Chiradzulu is a province located in the Southern Region of Malawi. It covers an area of 1,743 square km with a population of 375,000 people. Chiradzulu is home to many scenic lush green areas including rolling hills and tea plantations, making it one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Malawi.

One popular destination in Chiradzulu is the Mlanje Reserve where visitors can spot a variety of wildlife and birdlife including antelopes, monkeys and more than 150 species of birds. Another must-see spot is Livingstonia Mission Station which was founded by European missionaries in 1875 and still stands today as a memorial to these history makers. The almost intact 19th century church building now serves as both an historical site as well as place for worship for modern day missionaries operating within the area.

The region has long been known for its strong cultural roots - traditional customs are still followed today to celebrate festivals throughout the year such as Lomwe Yowano during August which involves dancing to traditional drumming music wearing animal masks made from papier mache'.
