Visit Mulanje District

Mulanje District is a part of Malawi in southeastern Africa. It is known as "the land of the mountain" due to the presence of the majestic Mulanje Massif, a large granite mountain that rises almost 10,000 feet above sea level. The area is tourist friendly with many activities and places to visit. One must-see spot is Thuchila Nature Reserve which offers breathtaking views and plenty of wildlife, including antelopes, bushbucks and even leopards. Additionally, Likhubula Falls are equally fascinating for their beautiful cascades and set up for swimming in its crystal clear waters.

Mulanje also has interesting historical facts; it was once home to an ancient kingdom ruled by paramount chiefs who proclaimed themselves the "Lunjika" or "Kings of the Mountains" during the 19th century. This unique culture was celebrated until European colonization changed much about its people's way of life. Today many customs still remain such as basket weaving which can be found at local markets throughout Mulanje Districts small villages and towns.
