Visit Mzimba District

Mzimba District is located in the Northern Region of Malawi. The district is home to many attractions and activities, including fishing on the Lakeshore, shopping for traditional African crafts at local markets, and exploring nearby national parks and nature reserves. It houses a great variety of wildlife, including antelopes, zebras, elephants, wildebeest and buffalo. Mzimba also offers cultural experiences with its lively festivals such as the Mvano Cultural Festival that celebrates local customs.

Two touristy places to visit include Vwaza Marsh Wildlife Reserve which has an abundance of wildlife; and Nyika National Park which boasts rolling grasslands topped by rocky outcrops dotted with more than 400 species of flowers.

An interesting historical fact about Mzimba District is that it was once part of Zimbabwe before being annexed by Britain in 1890 after they gained control over Malawi. This led to the establishment of British colonial rule across much of Central Africa during this period in history.
