Visit Nkhotakota

Nkhotakota is a region in Malawi located in the Central part of the country. It is one of the oldest districts with vast landscapes that serve as an ideal environment to explore and observe wildlife. The region boosts numerous rivers, wetlands, mountains and hills, making it a great place for tourists looking for adventure or relaxation.

In Nkhotakota you can visit Kande Beach which offers many activities such as boat rides, fishing and swimming while admiring beautiful sunsets. Another must-see attraction is Liwonde National Park where you can experience game drives and boat safaris on the river Shire to spot hippos, elephants, fish eagles or pukus antelopes. An interesting fact about Nkhotakota is that it used to be home of a thriving Arab trading post that was established around 1820 based on an agreement between Sultan Bin Majid Al Busaidi and King Kachindamoto I until its decline at 1860s due to ongoing political changes in Malawi at that time.
