Visit Nsanje


Nsanje is a district located in Southern Malawi, bordering Mozambique and the Shire River. It is known for its stunning landscapes of rolling hills, fresh water lakes and rivers, forests, and swamps. The highest peak can be found at Ntchisi Mountain where visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the area.

The main activities in Nsanje are fishing as well as agriculture such as cotton production and tobacco growing. Tourists can visit the Thuchila Forest Reserve to spot some of the local wildlife or explore Chikwawa Village to learn about traditional cultures. A popular attraction is also Mvano Beach with its calm waters perfect for a picnic or swimming.

An interesting historical fact about Nsanje is that it was once part of a Muslim kingdom ruled by king Yassin Daud in the mid 1800s who fought against European colonialism until he was finally driven out from his kingdom in 1891 by British forces.
