Visitors can explore many old sites such as A Famosa Fort, the ruins of an old Portuguese fort that dates back to 1511; Stadthuys, which was built in 1641; and Cheng Hoon Teng temple, one of Malaysia's oldest Chinese temples. There are also numerous museums such as the Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum which showcases cultural artifacts from the Nyonya people.

For those looking to experience nature while visiting Melaka there are abundant parks and wildlife preserves including Taman Rempah-Rempah Botanical Garden which features more than 100 species of plants.
