Visit Perak

Perak, located in the northwestern part of Peninsular Malaysia, is one of the thirteen states in the country. Its capital is Ipoh and it's known for its charming colonial-era architecture. Perak has a rich history and culture; its name is derived from a tree indigenous to the region.

The landscape of Perak ranges from tropical rainforest to stunning beaches with limestone cliffs. Popular tourist attractions include Kuala Sepetang mangrove swamps, Taiping Zoo & Night Safari, Belum Rainforest Resort and Cameron Highlands hill station. There are also many historical sites such as Kellie's Castle and Temenggor Lake which offer an insight into Perak's past.

An interesting historical fact about Perak is that it was once part of the ancient kingdom Srivijaya, which flourished in Sumatra during the 13th century AD before becoming part of Malaysian territory in 1874. Today, visitors can visit ancient Buddhist temples scattered around Perak such as Gunung Cheroh and Kek Lok Si Temple as reminders of this era.
