Visit Pulau Pinang


Pulau Pinang (Penang Island) is a state of Malaysia located in the northwest corner of Peninsular Malaysia. It is separated from mainland Malaysia by the Strait of Malacca, and consists of the island and a narrow strip on the mainland called Seberang Perai.

The former British colonial capital, Georgetown, is one of its main cities. It's known for its eclectic street art scene, as well as futuristic skyscrapers and colonial architecture around Fort Cornwallis. Hotels line Batu Ferringhi beach for sunbathing and watersports such as parasailing and jet skiing. Around 10 km away, Penang Hill has trails through jungle-clad hills that provide views across Georgetown to the sea below.

Visitors should not miss Kek Lok Si temple in Air Itam , one of Southeast Asia's most important Buddhist temples with ornate Chinese pagodas set among lush tropical grounds topped by an enormous bronze statue of Buddha at its summit . Also take a stroll along Little India where visitors can see brightly coloured shops selling Indian wares , jewelry , foodstuffs and spices .
