Visit Central Province

The Central Province is one of the twenty-six provinces that make up the Maldives. It has a population of over 115,000 people and is known for its lush tropical landscapes, white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.

One of the region's top attractions is Utheemu Ganduvaru, a 16th century palace built by Sultan Mohammed Thakurufaanu Al Auzam of Utheemu Island. The palace features stunning architecture and ancient artifacts that tell stories from Maldivian history. Visitors to the area can also explore nearby Haa Alif Atoll, an area home to some pristine coral reefs and great opportunities for snorkeling or diving excursions.

Another popular tourist destination in Central Province is Komandoo Island Resort & Spa, located on Komandoo Island in Lhaviyani Atoll. Guests can enjoy everything from sunbathing on one of the island's pristine beaches to taking part in various activities such as fishing or scuba diving trips around its underwater world.

A unique historical fact about this region is that it was once part of North Male Atoll until it broke away due to settling disputes between two families during the 1800s -- thus forming what we now know as Central Province today!
