Visit Maale

The Maale region of Maldives is the country's oldest and most densely populated province. It is home to many of the capital Male's ancient sites, such as its old harbor and fortress walls, offering visitors a glimpse into the island nation's history.

The area also features beaches for sunbathing and swimming in clear shallow waters, along with plenty of restaurants serving some classic Maldivian dishes such as mas huni (a spicy tuna salad) and gulha (fried fish cakes). A popular tourist attraction in this area is the Male Fish Market, where fishermen bring their fresh catch for sale every morning.

For a unique cultural experience, consider visiting Sultan Park which houses numerous artifacts from ancient times including religious relics and coins that were used by royal families. Another stop not to be missed is Hukuru Miskiiy Mosque - one of the oldest mosques in Maldives built over 400 years ago out of coral stone blocks - it's an impressive sight! An interesting historical fact about Maale region - since becoming an independent state in 1965, no single foreign power has gained control over any territory within this region.
