Visit Raa Atoll

The Raa Atoll region is one of the 19 administrative atolls of the Maldives. It lies in the northern part of the country and covers an area of about 396 square km. The atoll consists of a number of islands, including some larger inhabited ones, as well as many smaller uninhabited ones surrounded by stunning coral reefs and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Tourists can visit some wonderful beaches like Bilehdhoo Beach or explore nearby uninhabited islands on boat trips. Those looking for a more thrilling experience can go scuba diving in some amazing dive sites near Hulhudheli Island or Rasgetheemu Island.
Raa Atoll has an interesting history with ancient ruins still standing in this region such as those found on Rahdoo, Hirilandhoo and Kudarikilu Islands that date back to late 12th century AD when Buddhist settlers arrived here from India. In addition, this area is famous for its abundant population of sea turtles that can be seen throughout the year on various beaches here.
