Adrar is a region in Mauritania located in the north-west of the country. With its coastal areas, deserts, oases and mountainous regions, it offers a wide variety of scenery. The largest city and capital of the Adrar region is Atar. It boasts many historical monuments such as Old Fort Affela, which was built by Tuareg warriors centuries ago. Nearby Toukits Chegga is also worth a visit for its old palaces and traditional architecture.

The famous Oued Idjil desert lies within Adrar region as well as two natural parks: Banc d'Arguin National Park (the largest park in West Africa) and Parc National du Tagant (famous for its wildlife). Tourists can explore these areas to experience stunning landscapes or go on safaris to spot rare species such as black rhinos or cheetahs.
