Visit Rivière Noire District

Riviere Noire is a district in the country of Mauritius located on the southwestern coast. It is one of the most scenic areas of Mauritius with its picturesque beaches, lush vegetation, and crystal-clear waters. The area is renowned for its beautiful coastal walks, where visitors can explore an array of coves and bays as well as stunning sand dunes. Two popular tourist attractions in Riviere Noire include Tamarin Bay and La Preneuse Beach. Tamarin Bay offers excellent surfing opportunities for those looking to catch some waves while La Preneuse Beach provides a tranquil setting for relaxation or swimming.

In addition to its impressive natural beauty, Riviere Noire also has an interesting history behind it. It was once the site of a French military base that was established in 1735 but later abandoned by 1810 due to conflicts between Britain and France over control of Mauritius during that time period. Visitors today can still visit remnants from this era such as old sugar mills or ruins from fortifications that were put up at the time.
