Visit Briceni District

The Briceni District of Moldova is a beautiful area in the northwest part of the country. It is known for its rolling plains and hills, which are dotted with small villages and castles. The region is home to large lakes and rivers, making it an ideal spot for fishing, hiking, and other outdoor activities. Some popular tourist sites in the area include Lake Pohrebea, which is known for its pristine waters, as well as Galautas Monastery and Curchi Monastery.

The history of the Briceni District dates back to before Moldovan independence in 1991 when it was part of Romania. It has a rich cultural heritage with many churches still standing from the early Middle Ages. In addition to its churches and monasteries, there are also numerous archaeological sites that have been excavated over time including ancient tombs that date back to around 1000 AD. An interesting historical fact about this region is that it was once ruled by Poland from 1793-1834 during an important period in European history known as 'The Partitions'. Today visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature while exploring some of these historic landmarks.
