Visit Ocnița District

Ocnita is a district located in the northeastern part of Moldova. It is surrounded by Ukraine and the Dniester River on one side and Romania on the other. The area has a rich historical heritage, being an important stopping point for merchants travelling along the Dniester during medieval times.

Visitors to Ocnita will find plenty of things to explore and enjoy, such as the Limba-Ciucului Monastery, which dates back to 1645, or Asconi Winery, which produces some of Moldova's finest wines. Additionally, tourists can visit Lake Beleu where they can swim or relax in its warm waters.

The district also boasts an interesting historical fact: Ocnita was once home to Eastern Europe's oldest Jewish cemetery dating back to 1563 with over 2200 gravestones still standing today.
