Visit Orhei District

The Orhei District is located in the Central region of Moldova, and it's one of the largest districts in the country. It has a population of over 62,500 people and is known as an important cultural center. Tourists can visit many attractions including the Butuceni Monastery which dates back to 1755, as well as Orheiul Vechi, an archaeological site dating back to the 13th century.

Orheiul Vechi is a special place where tourists can explore religious monuments such as churches and monasteries that were built from stone blocks carved into cliffs along the Raut River. The unique site also contains fortifications and dwellings made by humans centuries ago. Once visitors have explored this ancient city they can take a walk through local nature preserves or go for a swim in Yalpug Lake which provides beautiful views of rolling hills and lush landscapes.

In addition to its tourist attractions, Orhei also holds historical significance for being part of Romania when it was occupied by Soviet forces during World War II until their retreat in 1944; This allowed Moldova to reclaim its independence.
