Dundgobi is one of the 21 provinces of Mongolia, located in the central part of the country. The region's capital is Mandalgovi, and it is home to nearly 200,000 people. Dundgobi has several geographic features that make it a top tourist destination. It borders Khovsgol Lake on one side and the Gobi Desert on another, making for some stunning landscape views.

Two interesting places to visit are Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa), an eye-catching formation of limestone formations that look like a series of white stupas; and Oglus Tolgoi (White Flag Hill), a sand dune formed from hundreds of years' worth of wind erosion featuring an interesting collection of flora and fauna in its oasis-like environment.

The history behind Dundgobi Province dates back to 15th century when Genghis Khan defeated most parts in Eastern Mongolia including this region that was ruled by Oirats until 1723 when Mongolian leader Dondovdorji conquered this area forming it as part of Ulaanbaatar province.
