The Govisumber Province, also known as Zavkhan Aimag, is situated in the western part of Mongolia, between Gobi Desert and the Great Lakes Depression. It borders both China and Russia.

The Govisumber Province has many unique natural and historical sites to explore for tourists. The ancient Uushgin (Seven Lakes) Valley holds seven lakes surrounded by high cliffs of sandstone that are a popular destination for hikers. Located nearby is the historic Ogii Lake which is said to have been formed by a giant dragon according to Mongolian folklore.

Other attractions include Khutul Monastery, built in 1637 by Zanabazar; Tuvkhon temple from 1883; Tsagaan Gol Nature Reserve with its celebrated birdlife; and Orog Nuur limestone caves that contain ancient cave drawings dating back thousands of years ago.

Notably, during World War II in 1944 the Battle of Halhin Gol was fought on this region's border with Russia where Japan launched an attack on Soviet forces.
