The Sukhbaatar Province is located in central-eastern Mongolia, renowned for its rugged terrain, mountains and grassy steppe lands. The province contains the city of Zuunmod, the capital of Sukhbaatar Province. Tourist attractions around this area include the National Park Terelj, which has a wealth of flora and fauna to explore as well as different hiking trails across rolling hills. Another site to visit is the ancient Bogd Khan Uul mountain range with its Buddhist Monasteries full of unique Mongolian architecture and artifacts.

An interesting historical fact about this region is that it was once part of Manchu Dynasty after being annexed by them in 1691 during their westward expansion. This led to a tumultuous period in Mongolian history as they struggled against these foreign invaders who had sought to control their land until they were eventually liberated after a revolt in 1911 by revolutionary Damdin Sukhbaatar (after whom the province was later named).
