The Uvs Province is a remote region of Mongolia located in the northwest corner of the country near its border with Russia and China. It is an incredibly diverse region, ranging from lush green steppes to semi-arid deserts to snow-capped mountain ranges.
Uvs Province offers some truly breathtaking scenery and outdoor activities such as horseback riding, hiking, fishing, bird watching, hunting and skiing. One must see tourist attraction is Ubsunur Hollow; it is a proteced natural area filled with pristine lakes and wetlands that are home to over 200 species of birds. Another highlight in the region includes Khyargas Nuur which means "Green Lake"; this lake has crystal blue waters surrounded by sandy dunes and mountains making for unique landscapes.
Uvs Province also holds a significant piece of Mongolian history; the ancient ruins known as Khoton Tsagaan Nuur are believed to be 1000 years old and were once used by traders travelling the Silk Road route between China and Russia.
