Visit Northern region


The Northern region of Montenegro is a stunningly beautiful corner of the country. It is known for its picturesque landscapes and breathtaking views, offering plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreational activities like skiing, hiking, and fishing. Its wide variety of wildlife will also delight nature lovers alike.

Tourists can visit some of the area's most notable landmarks such as Ostrog Monastery, a 17th century Orthodox Christian monastery built into the side of a mountain which still draws pilgrims from near and far; or Plav Lake which is surrounded by mountains and offers visitors peaceful boat rides around its shores.

Interestingly enough, this region was once part of Yugoslavia until 2006 when it became an independent state. The northernmost town in Montenegro, named Rozaje, was once part of Serbia before the Yugoslavian breakup in 1992.
