Visit Béni Mellal-Khénifra

Béni Mellal
2.5 million

The Beni Mellal-Khenifra region of Morocco is a unique blend of culture, history and nature. Located in the Middle Atlas mountains and stretching from the south of the city of Fes to the east of Marrakesh, it is home to some stunning natural beauty, as well as many ancient sites. The region offers spectacular mountain views, lush valleys and vast plains that are perfect for exploring.

For tourists looking to explore this area there are plenty of places to visit. One must-see destination is Ouzoud Falls - a series of cascading waterfalls located near Beni Mellal which is a popular spot for swimming, hiking and taking pictures. Another great place to explore is Azrou Forest - an ancient cedar forest with plenty of wildlife including wild monkeys.

The history here also dates back centuries; in fact, these lands were once part of an independent kingdom ruled by Sultan Moulay Ismail until 1727 when it was annexed by Morocco's Alaouite dynasty. Today you can still visit some very well preserved ruins from this period such as Timahdite Palace in Beni Mellal or Ait Hmad Fort in Azrou Forest.
