Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, is a vibrant coastal city in the south of Africa. It's known for its beautiful beaches, bustling markets and lively nightlife. The architecture reflects a rich history that dates back to the 16th century when Maputo was an important trading port for Portuguese merchants. Tourists can visit attractions such as historic Fortaleza de Nossa Senhora da Conceicao, a fortress built in 1781; or climb up to the top of 2nd April bridge which offers panoramic views of the city and Indian Ocean.
