Visit Niassa Province

The Niassa Province of Mozambique is a vast and remote region in the northernmost part of the country bordering Tanzania. It is an area full of natural beauty, rich wildlife, and diverse cultures. The climate here ranges from tropical to temperate with plenty of rainfall during the wet season months.

One popular tourist destination in Niassa Province is Lake Malawi National Park where visitors can explore the pristine beauty of this large freshwater lake while on guided hikes or boat trips around its many islands. Visitors can also observe some of Africa's most endangered species such as African elephants, hippo, crocodiles and monkeys which inhabit this park.

Another must-see spot for visitors is Mount Mabu - one of Africa's largest rainforest reserves featuring numerous species including birds, reptiles and primates that are endemic to Mozambique. Here you can explore by foot or catch breathtaking views from atop its highest peaks with sunsets that will take your breath away!

Historically speaking, Niassa province was home to Swahili merchants who traded ivory goods until it changed hands over time throughout various empires such as Portuguese colonialists who ruled until 1975 before independence was declared by FRELIMO (Mozambique Liberation Front).
