Discover Bagan

Bagan is a city located in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar, near the Irrawaddy River. It is a major tourist destination known for its ancient archaeological sites, with over 2200 pagodas and temples scattered across the landscape.

The most impressive site in Bagan is Ananda Temple, built in 1091 by King Kyanzittha. Nearby Old Bagan has many temples and archaeological sites that are open to visitors on foot or by horse-drawn carts. There are also traditional markets and craft shops where travelers can find locally made souvenirs.

Visitors can experience a hot air balloon flight over the city's beautiful scenery for an unforgettable view of ancient stupas and pagodas set against a backdrop of rolling hills and plains. Travelers should also make time to join in local festivals such as Thadingyut which takes place at full moon time every October. At this festival locals light candles around their homes to honor Buddhist saints who achieved enlightenment during their lives on earth.
