Visit Sagaing

Sagaing is one of the seven main regions of Myanmar, located in the northwest part of the country. It is full of ancient Buddhist pagodas, monasteries and shrines, making it a popular destination for spiritual seekers and tourists alike. At the center of Sagaing lies Sagaing Hill, an important pilgrimage spot that also serves as a center for meditation retreats. Along its steep slopes are hundreds of pagodas and monasteries including Soon U Ponya Shin Pagoda, That Myint U Pagoda and Thabyedan Fort. Tourists to this region can also visit local villages to experience traditional Burmese culture or take a boat ride down the Ayeyarwady River which passes through Sagaing on its way to Mandalay.

An interesting historical fact about Sagaing is that it was once home to King Narapati Sithu who ruled from 1254-1287 A.D.. He built many monuments throughout Sagaing including Tayoke Pyay palace ruins which are still standing today near Soon U Ponya Shin Pagoda. So if you're looking for an escape into history and culture with a spiritual touch, then look no further than Sagaing!
