Discover Rangoon
The city boasts beautiful colonial buildings such as City Hall, Strand hotel and St Mary's Cathedral which all have impressive European architecture and remain surrounded by an abundance of Buddhist temples and shrines. There are plenty of markets to explore such as Bogyoke Aung San Market where one can find gems like jade or rubies alongside other souvenirs like lacquerware or traditional crafts.
A must-visit in Rangoon is Shwedagon Pagoda - Burma's most important religious site located on top of Singuttara Hill; it towers at 326 feet with its golden stupa shining brightly through the sky day and night. From here one can enjoy views over the cityscape to nearby Kandawgyi Lake where visitors can take a relaxing boat ride around its serene waters for sunset gazing.
