The Karas Region in Namibia is a sparsely populated area full of natural wonders. It offers wide-open spaces, fascinating wildlife and some of the most spectacular desert landscapes in Southern Africa. Home to the Fish River Canyon, one of the largest canyons in the world, tourists can explore its majestic beauty with hikes and camping opportunities. The nearby Ai-Ais Hot Springs Resort provides visitors with hot springs and pools for relaxation as well as guided tours that include amazing views of red dunes and riverbeds.

History buffs will find no shortage of interesting sites, such as Dia!kwain San paintings located at Gondwana Canyon Park or ancient ruins found throughout the region dating back to pre-colonial times. One unique historical attraction is Stolzalpe Hill - an old fort used by German soldiers during World War I which still has trenches that provide excellent vantage points over a vast landscape. Karas Region offers something for everyone looking for an unforgettable adventure off-the-beaten path.
