Otjozondjupa is a province in the northern part of Namibia, bordered by Angola on the north and Botswana on the east. It is home to numerous wildlife reserves, national parks, monuments and other attractions that draw tourists from around the world. Notable places to visit here include Etosha National Park, which covers more than 20,000 km2 in area and offers an abundance of game viewing opportunities; as well as Waterberg Plateau Park, a unique wild environment of sandstone cliffs that provide fantastic hiking trails. Otjozondjupa also boasts some interesting historical facts: it was one of the first regions settled by German colonists who arrived in Namibia in 1884; and during World War II it served as a strategic location for South African forces fighting against Germany's invasion of Namibia.
