Visit Anabar District

The Anabar District, one of the fourteen districts of Nauru, is located in the north-western part of the country. The district has a population of about 2,400 and is home to some fascinating tourist attractions including two important archaeological sites - Anibare Bay and Aiwo Trench. Anibare Bay is an old harbor with a spectacular view and Aiwo Trench offers a glimpse into Nauru's ancient history as it contains artifacts dating back thousands of years.

An interesting historical fact about the district is that it was once part of the British Protectorate known as 'Pleasant Island' during World War I. During World War II, Japanese forces occupied Nauru and their influence can be seen in many places around Anabar District today.

Visitors to Anabar District should be sure to visit Meneng Beach which boasts stunning views over its crystal blue waters or take a trip up Mount Muonguluvue for more breathtaking sights over this beautiful island nation.
