The Far-Western Development Region of Nepal is a remote and sparsely populated area that lies on the westernmost edge of the country. It stretches from the northern border with Tibet in the Himalaya region to the plains of Mahakali Zone in west. Its capital city is Dhangadhi, located near India's Uttar Pradesh state. The region has an immense diversity of flora and fauna, including some endangered species such as tigers and rhinos, making it an ideal destination for eco-tourists.

Tourism in Far Western Nepal offers plenty to explore; two iconic sites worth visiting are Rara Lake National Park - home to Nepal's biggest lake - and Api Nampa Conservation Area, which contains unique alpine meadows, forests and grasslands at its highest elevations. Another popular spot is Bardia National Park where you can observe Bengal tigers among many other wildlife creatures.

An interesting historical fact about this region is that until 2015 when administrative divisions were revised by the government, it was known as Seti Zone; this name originated from one of two rivers that bisect through Far Western Nepal: Seti Gandaki River and Karnali River.
