Visit Zuid-Holland

Zuid-Holland is one of the twelve provinces of the Netherlands, located in the western part of the country. It is bordered by North Holland to the north, Utrecht and Gelderland to the east, and Zeeland and Noord-Brabant to the south. Its capital city is The Hague, which is also home to many government offices as well as international institutions such as Europol and NATO.

The province has plenty for visitors to explore, with its beautiful landscapes along its numerous rivers and canals, such as Rotterdam's picturesque port area. Tourists can also find a range of cultural attractions throughout Zuid-Holland including museums in The Hague or take a bike ride through Delft or Gouda's charming cobblestone streets lined with gabled houses.

One fascinating historical fact about Zuid-Holland is that it was once an island before being connected to mainland Europe by a series of dams known collectively as Delta Works in 1956. To this day tourists can visit parts of these dams which have been preserved as monuments in various locations around Zuid-Holland such as Neeltje Jans Island off the coast near Vrouwenpolder.
