Visit North Province


The North Province is one of the three administrative subdivisions of New Caledonia, a French territory in the South Pacific. The region is known for its breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and diverse wildlife. Two must-visit tourist spots are the Heart of Voh, a naturally formed heart shape in the mangrove vegetation visible from above, and the Tiebaghi Mine, once the largest chromium mine in the world. The North Province is also home to the Kanak people, New Caledonia's indigenous population. An interesting historical fact about the region is its significant role in World War II. From 1942 to 1946, New Caledonia served as a key military base for the Allied forces, particularly the Americans, due to its strategic location in the Pacific.
