Niger is a fascinating country filled with incredible sights, sounds and culture. Located in western Africa, Niger is bordered by seven countries and has a population of more than 21 million people.

Home to the Tibesti Mountains - one of the highest mountain ranges in Africa - Niger is known for its impressive landscapes. Apart from the stunning desert vistas and picturesque savannas, some of the country's must-see attractions include the Aïr Mountains, the Termit Massifs, the Dosso Reserve and Waza National Park.

An interesting fact about Niger is that it is home to one of the world's oldest mosques, located in Agadez. Built in 1515 from mud brick, the mosque has been used by nomadic herdsmen for centuries!

If you're looking to explore something off the beaten path, head to Gorou Banda. This small village is located on Lake Chad, which was once one of Africa’s largest lakes. You can take a boat ride to explore some of the islands or even visit a nearby traditional fishing village.

No trip to Niger would be complete without sampling some of their unique cuisine, including dishes like Suya (barbecued meat skewers) or Fufu (starchy balls made from yams, potatoes or cassava). Whatever you decide to do, you are sure to leave Niger with memories that will last a lifetime.
