Visit Bauchi State


Bauchi State is located in the north-eastern region of Nigeria. It has a population of over 4 million people, most of whom live in rural areas and practice subsistence farming. The state is known for its cultural richness, diverse environment and natural attractions.

The Yankari National Park is one of Bauchi's major tourist destinations. It offers a wide range of wildlife including elephants, baboons, monkeys, hippos and crocodiles as well as hot springs with therapeutic qualities. Historically, Bauchi has been an important region since the 16th century when it was part of the Kanem-Bornu Empire which stretched across much of present day northern Nigeria and southern Chad. In 1906 it became a British administrative district which continues to influence life today in terms of infrastructure, education and governance systems.
