Edo State is a state in the south-southern region of Nigeria, located on the Benin River. It has a population of over five million people and its capital city is Benin City. The major languages spoken in Edo State are Edo, Esan, Afemai and Igarra.

Edo State offers a variety of attractions for visitors to explore. One popular tourist destination is the Oba's Palace in Benin City, which was built around 1450 and serves as home to the traditional ruler of the Edo people. Another great place to visit is Idah Lake - a picturesque spot with stunning views across its tranquil waters that makes for an ideal holiday retreat away from city life.

In terms of history, Edo State has plenty to offer too - it's believed that one of Africa's earliest civilizations first emerged here around 500BC! This ancient kingdom played an important role in West African trade routes before eventually coming under British control in 1897 - making it one of Nigeria's oldest states!
