Visit Ekiti State


Ekiti State is a state in southwestern Nigeria bordered by Kwara and Kogi States to the north, Ondo to the south, Osun to the east and Benue to the west. It is also known for its rolling hills, lush vegetation and rich cultural heritage. Ado-Ekiti is the capital of Ekiti State.

The popular Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort offers visitors a unique experience with its two warm springs that meet at one point. The resort also provides camping facilities and other recreational activities like boat rides and swimming in the warm springs. A visit to Okemesi-Ekiti will take you back in time as it still houses some ancient buildings from pre-colonial times such as Igbo Olodumare shrine, Ifa-Orun shrine and Okunrin Ogun shrine.

An interesting historical fact about Ekiti State is that during colonial British rule, it was part of what was then called Western Province which covered modern day Ekiti State but also parts of Kwara and Kogi States. This area was officially inaugurated as a separate province in 1951 after independence from Britain had been won by Nigeria three years earlier in 1948 .
