Visit Ogun State

Ogun State, located in the southwestern region of Nigeria, is known as the "Gateway to Nigeria" due to its proximity to Lagos. It is home to a wide variety of cultures and has some of the most stunning landscapes in all of Africa. Popular tourist sites include Olumo Rock, a historic and spiritual site that dates back thousands of years; it provides breathtaking views from its peak. Shoe-making village Alara is another popular destination where visitors can observe traditional techniques used by locals for generations.

Historically speaking, Ogun state was settled by members of the Yoruba ethnic group who went on to form their own independent kingdoms during the pre-colonial era. It eventually became part of modern day Nigeria after British occupation in 1851 and remains an important gateway for commerce between African countries today.
