Visit Plateau State


Plateau State is a province in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria. It is home to Jos, the provincial capital and largest city. The state has many tourist attractions, including natural and cultural sites. Nature lovers can explore beautiful Hwolshe Plateau or take a nature walk at Mambilla Plateau. Cultural tourists can visit Nok Village near Jos to view ancient artifacts dating back to 500 B.C., such as terracotta sculptures and figurines carved from stone and pottery vessels decorated with intricate designs.

History buffs will find plenty to explore in Plateau State too - it was the site of a major battle between the British colonial forces and local Muslim warriors during World War II! An interesting fact about this battle is that when the Muslim leader, Muhammadu Attahiru II, led his troops into battle, he carried an ancient sword that had belonged to his ancestor 700 years ago!

Aside from these historical gems, there are plenty of fun activities for visitors in Plateau State - you could take a stroll through Shere Hills National Park or spend time at Panyam Fish Farm enjoying freshly-caught fish from nearby rivers and streams.
