Visit Rivers

Nigeria's Rivers State is part of the Niger Delta region and located in the South-South geopolitical zone. It is bordered by Imo, Anambra, Bayelsa and Abia States. Port Harcourt, its capital city, lies on the Bonny River and serves as the state's commercial hub. The countryside consists of small villages set against a backdrop of mangrove swamps. Tourists can explore many attractions in Rivers State including Gokana Forest Reserve which offers scenic views of wildlife habitats and fishing opportunities; or take a boat trip along the popular picturesque Old Calabar River to once again experience first hand Nigeria's long history with trading links with Europe in times gone by. Historical sites such as Ogu Town still play an important role in cultural activities such as masked Masquerades or elegant Boat Regatta festivals that occur annually on Niger Delta tamale riverbanks every August.
