Visit Yobe State

Yobe State is one of the 36 states in Nigeria, located in the northeastern region of the country. It borders Bauchi and Gombe States to the south, Borno State to the north, and Niger Republic to its east. Yobe is a predominantly Muslim area with over 80% of its inhabitants being Islamic adherents. The capital city is Damaturu and other major cities include Gashua, Nguru, Potiskum and Buniyadi. Yobe has many tourist attractions including popular Gashua Hill which offers panoramic views of nearby hills within a serene atmosphere; as well as Babban Dodo Lake which provides boat rides for visitors who want to explore wildlife on the lake's shores. An interesting historical fact about Yobe State is that it was one of four states initially created when Nigeria became a republic in 1963. The original four states were North-Central State (now split into six), Eastern Region (split into five), Western Region (split into three) and Northern Region (split into twelve).
