Visit Hwangbuk

The Hwangbuk (or North Hamgyong Province) of North Korea is a mountainous region situated in the far northeastern corner of the country along its border with China and Russia. Home to some of North Korea's most spectacular scenery, it is an area of outstanding natural beauty with lush rolling hills, crystal clear streams and numerous waterfalls. With its rugged mountains and lush valleys, the province offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore untouched landscapes.

Notable tourist attractions in Hwangbuk include Paektusan Volcano National Park - home to Baengnokdam Lake, one of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes in Asia - as well as Kim Il Sung University which was founded by the late leader himself. For those looking for something more historical, there are also ruins from ancient Korean dynasties located throughout the region that offer insight into their respective cultures.

One interesting historical fact about Hwangbuk is that it served as an important stop on the Silk Road between China and Europe during antiquity. It was here where goods were exchanged between various merchants from around the world thus allowing new techniques, ideas and religious beliefs to be shared amongst people from different parts of Eurasia.
