Visit Ngiwal

Ngiwal is an outer island region in the nation of Palau. It is located on Babeldaob, the second largest island in Palau. Ngiwal is known for its natural beauty and abundant wildlife. Tourists come to explore its lush rainforests, pristine beaches, and clear coral reefs. Popular tourist attractions include the Ngardok Nature Reserve with its diverse birdlife and stunning views of Mount Ngerchelchuus; and Melekeok State House, a traditional thatched-palm palace where important decisions for Palau are made today.

History buffs will be interested to know that Ngiwal has been inhabited since 1000 BCE or earlier by members of the ancient Saudeleur Dynasty who practiced distinct cultural rituals such as tree burials until 1710 CE when they were supplanted by more recent migrations from nearby islands in Micronesia.
