Visit Bougainville

The Bougainville region of Papua New Guinea is an autonomous province located on the island of Bougainville. This tropical paradise is home to rugged mountain ranges, stunning beaches, clear blue waters and lush jungle terrain.

One popular tourist destination in the region is Panguna Beach, where visitors can enjoy a day of swimming, snorkeling and kayaking among coral reefs and pristine shorelines. Another popular spot is Arawa Township which has some great trekking and walking trails that offer amazing views from the top of Mt Balbi.

For those interested in history, there's plenty to explore in Bougainville too! The area was formerly known as North Solomons Province before becoming part of Papua New Guinea in 1975. It was also the site of a civil war between 1989-1997 with fighting mainly around Panguna mine which still remains closed today.
