Visit Eastern Highlands

The Eastern Highlands region of Papua New Guinea is a stunningly beautiful, largely untouched land of lush rainforests and rolling hills. It is home to some of the highest mountains in the country, including Mount Wilhelm and Mount Giluwe, making it a perfect destination for hikers and trekkers. Some of the most popular tourist attractions in this region include the Kupania Hot Springs, where visitors can relax in natural hot pools surrounded by nature; and Goroka Showground, an annual cultural show that allows visitors to get glimpse into traditional ceremonies and rituals performed by locals.

Aside from its natural beauty, Eastern Highlands province also has a rich history dating back to World War 2 when Australian forces assisted local tribes people with guerrilla warfare against Japanese invaders. Today it remains one of the most culturally vibrant regions of Papua New Guinea.
