Visit Southern Highlands

The Southern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea is situated in the Highlands region of the island. The province is home to a diverse range of cultures, languages and customs. Popular tourist attractions include Mount Bosavi, a dormant volcano and an abundance of birdlife for avid birdwatchers to explore, as well as Tari Valley, which contains some spectacular caves that are beacons for adventure seekers.

History buffs will also be interested in learning about the famous 'Rukuruku' warriors who fought against colonisation in the late 19th century and were known for their bravery when defending their homeland.

Today visitors can enjoy a variety of activities from mountain climbing to trekking through lush rainforests and witnessing traditional ceremonies such as singings and dances which still take place around villages within the Southern highlands Province.
