The Caazapa Department of Paraguay is a lush area filled with natural beauty, historical sites, and friendly people. It is located in the southeast of the country and borders Argentina. In terms of interesting facts about Caazapa's history; during The War Of The Triple Alliance (1864-1870) Paraguay lost 70% percent of its male population due to battle casualties caused by invading neo-Brazilian forces while defending their land from occupation. Despite this terrible tragedy it was here where Paraguayan troops claimed their last victory in December 1870 at Cerro Cora before they were completely defeated by Brazil's soldiers two months later marking the end of war.
