Neembucu is one of the 19 provinces in Paraguay. It covers an area of about 11,000 square kilometers, and its capital is Villarrica. The province is bordered by the provinces of Alto Parana to the east, Presidente Hayes and Canindeyu to the west, and Boqueron to the south. Neembucu has a rich history that dates back before European colonization.

Neembucu has two main attractions for tourists: Parque Nacional Defensores del Chaco and Cerro Leon. Parque Nacional Defensores del Chaco is known for its wooded savannas, lush grasslands, crystal-clear waterholes, and abundant wildlife. Cerro Leon offers spectacular views from atop its peak that overlooks the city of Villarrica below.

An interesting historical fact about Neembucu is that it was one of five regions occupied by Brazilian forces during their occupation of Paraguay during The War of Triple Alliance (1864-1870). This event sparked a nationalistic movement in Paraguay which ultimately led to liberation from foreign rule in 1870.
